Exactly half a century has passed since 118 successful graduates of the agricultural mechanization study program at the Faculty of Mechanization of the then University of Agriculture in Nitra received their engineering diplomas in the auditorium.
On Friday, June 20, 68 of them met to experience the ceremonial "Golden Graduation", receive commemorative diplomas and symbolically renew their engineer titles. At the beginning, they honored the memory of 29 deceased former classmates with a minute of silence. In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Professor Roman Gálik, emphasized that the faculty is today the driving force of the university in several parameters, it is successful in education, science and research, projects and cooperation with practice. "Our graduates hold diplomas with respected value and the certainty of their application on the job market, and interest in them is constantly growing. My sincere wish and effort is that each of them - like you - will be convinced, even after decades, that studying at the Faculty of Engineering of the Slovak University of Applied Sciences in Nitra was the best decision. You are an inspiration to us and proof that the true meaning of education does not lie in diplomas, but in what we can bring to this world and society during our lives thanks to education," said the dean. He informed the jubilant graduates about current study programs, the faculty's scientific and research activities, its infrastructural development and cooperation with practice. As he stated, an example of successful cooperation is the cooperation of the Slovak University of Applied Sciences with Agrion - the Association of Agricultural Technology Suppliers in the Slovak Republic, within which an innovative laboratory of agricultural technology will soon be established on the premises of the Slovak University of Applied Sciences, financed by the AgroForestry project.
