The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic has determined a list of shortage university departments and study programs for the next three academic years. Priority areas again include technical departments that respond to the needs of industry, digitalization and the modern labor market in the long term.
Mechanical engineering is also among the supported study departments in which state support will continue.
Students in shortage departments can receive a motivational scholarship of up to 4,000 euros per year. The selection of departments is based on a labor market analysis, specifically on the ratio between the number of vacancies and the number of graduates in individual fields.
Technical education continues to be one of the strategic priorities of the state. The development of areas such as automation, informatics, electrical engineering and modern production technologies confirms the growing importance of technical faculties in preparing experts for practice.
