05.04.2026
On March 24, 2026, the final conference of the TeBiCE (Territorial Circular Bioeconomy) project, funded by Intereg for Central Europe, was held at the prestigious University of Padua at its Faculty of Agriculture in Corte Benedettina.
As part of the round table "What next? Success stories influencing the Bioeconomy Strategy", Marieta Okenková from SPU presented the experiences and pilot solutions of technical hemp, which has broad potential as a strategic raw material for the development of the bioeconomy, environmental restoration of the landscape and regional economy with an emphasis on short value chains and regional added value.
Beyond the scope of the project, a document "Strategic support for the development of the hemp value chain in Slovakia. Transformation of hemp stalks into biocomposites as a tool for the development of the bioeconomy" was developed, which can serve as a basis for the National Hub for Bioeconomy currently being created at the Ministry of Rural Development of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the Bioeconomy Cluster.
