Meeting of experts from the field of food incubators at the Faculty of Engineering
by Ing. Ján Csillag
The international meeting of partners of the project Food Incubators Transforming Regions (FITR) took place at the Faculty of Engineering of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra on September 8 and 9, 2016 (www.foodincubators.how). The goal of the project, supported by the European Commission within the programme Erasmus+, is to establish the regional partnerships comprising representatives of self-governmental regions, chambers of commerce, farmer associations, entrepreneurial associations, as well as universities and educational institutions that would support entrepreneurship in food and catering services in a unique way by establishing a network of food incubators.
Experts from Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovakia created a replicable model of regional partnership and produced educational materials for representatives of local governments, civic associations, and business associations. These include instructions for successful establishment and operation of food incubators, so the growing number of new catering services and restaurants could be supplied efficiently by domestic/regional production .
